Representative David Kustoff, who has served Tennessee’s 8th District in the U.S. Congress since 2017, recently shared updates on legislative efforts through a series of social media posts. Kustoff, born in Memphis in 1966 and currently residing in Germantown, is a graduate of the University of Memphis with both a BA and JD.
On July 11, 2025, Kustoff announced the passage of his bill through the Senate, stating “My bill, the Filing Relief for Natural Disasters Act, passed the U.S. Senate! It is now headed to @POTUS’ desk to be signed into law. We are one step closer to ensuring those impacted by natural disasters have the flexibility they need to rebuild and recover.”
Later that day, Kustoff reported his involvement with other lawmakers on new legislation aimed at criminal justice reform. He wrote on July 11, 2025: “I’m proud to join @MarshaBlackburn and @SenTomCotton in introducing the Restoring the Armed Career Criminal Act. This bill gives prosecutors the tools they need to keep repeat violent offenders off our streets and behind bars.” He also provided a link for additional information about this initiative: https://t.co/i2vL47Exgs.
Kustoff replaced Stephen Fincher in Congress in 2017 and continues to focus on legislative measures affecting disaster relief and public safety.
