Representative David Kustoff, serving Tennessee’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress since 2017, has recently addressed several key issues through his social media platform. His communications focus on legislative concerns related to tax policy and community engagement.
On June 16, 2025, Kustoff highlighted potential tax implications if Congress does not extend certain provisions of the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act of 2017. He stated that “If Congress fails to extend key parts of the Tax Cuts & Jobs Act of 2017, the average taxpayer in West Tennessee could face a 26% tax increase—the largest in United States history.” He further emphasized the efforts by House Republicans to protect American paychecks and prioritize national interests.
Later that day, Kustoff discussed another significant issue regarding the expiration of the expanded standard deduction at the end of 2025. He warned that its expiration would lead to increased taxes for many working families. Kustoff mentioned his collaborative work with colleagues from the Ways and Means Committee, noting “I am working with my colleagues on @WaysandMeansGOP to ensure this important provision is made permanent for Americans across the nation.”
Additionally, Kustoff shared about his engagement with local constituents during a visit to Madison County. On June 16, he expressed appreciation for an opportunity to speak at a local event: “Great to speak at the Jackson Old Hickory Rotary Club today in Madison County! Thank you to Mike Nichols and Club President Clint Beilke for inviting me.”
David Kustoff was born in Memphis in 1966 and currently resides in Germantown. He holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis (1989) and earned his Juris Doctor from there as well in 1992.
