Rep. David Kustoff, a U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee’s 8th district since 2017, recently used his social media platform to highlight a range of national and state-level issues, including federal economic policies, immigration, and organized crime.
On July 21, 2025, Kustoff posted support for the current administration’s recent achievements: ” @POTUS has delivered for America! In just 6 Months, here’s what he has done:
Largest tax cut ever — up to $10,00 more take-home pay
671,000 new jobs
Border security: Record-low illegal crossings & deportations up
Gas prices near 20-year low (inflation-adjusted)
“
A day later on July 22, Kustoff criticized Democratic-led states regarding immigration policy. He wrote: “No surprise here—Democrat-run states have made it routine to prioritize illegal immigrants over their own citizens.
California is suing to stop the federal government from blocking benefits for people who aren’t even supposed to be here. It’s time for leaders to stop pandering https://t.co/tiDi71MxhL“
Later that same day, Kustoff drew attention to a report from South Carolina grand juries concerning organized crime in prisons. He stated: “On July 9, South Carolina’s 34th and 35th State Grand Juries released a powerful report exposing the rise of organized crime operating from behind prison walls – fueled by contraband cellphones.
Their report highlights the potential of cell phone jamming technology to stop https://t.co/R1PAnx3Sx2“
Kustoff was born in Memphis in 1966 and currently resides in Germantown. He holds both undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Memphis. Before his tenure in Congress began in 2017 following Stephen Fincher’s departure, he built his career as an attorney.
