Rep. David Kustoff, a U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee’s 8th district since 2017, has posted several updates on his social media accounts regarding the recent death of Robert (Bob) Kirk and legislative efforts to address the fentanyl crisis.
On July 16, 2025, Kustoff expressed condolences over the passing of Robert Kirk: “Roberta and I are saddened by the death of our good friend, Robert (Bob) Kirk. In 2019, I gave a speech recognizing Bob’s life of public service.
We send our condolences to Bob’s son, Carter Kirk, and the many lives Bob touched.”

Later that day, Kustoff commented on border security legislation aimed at combating fentanyl trafficking: “This law, along with our ongoing border security efforts, makes one thing clear: America won’t sit back and let this crisis continue.
Fentanyl has taken far too many lives, and we are taking action to stop it. Well done @HouseGOP & @POTUS!”
Kustoff has served in Congress since replacing Stephen Fincher in 2017. He was born in Memphis in 1966 and currently resides in Germantown. Kustoff is an alumnus of the University of Memphis where he earned both his undergraduate degree in 1989 and his law degree in 1992.
