Rep. David Kustoff, who represents Tennessee’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, used his social media platform on October 30, 2025, to comment on the ongoing government shutdown and to highlight his recent community engagement.
In a post from October 30, Kustoff stated: “I joined @LukeCymbal, guest host for @ToddStarnes on @Mighty990KWAM, to talk about the real-world impacts of the Democrats’ government shutdown. The shutdown happened because Senate Democrats chose to appease their far-left base instead of doing their jobs. Now, Americans will”. Later that day, he addressed congressional efforts to resolve the situation: “.@HouseGOP and @SenateGOP want to reopen the government so the people who keep our country running can get paid. It only takes a handful of Democrat senators to do the right thing and vote to open the government.”
Kustoff also highlighted local law enforcement efforts with another post on October 30: “Great meeting with District Attorney General Mark Davidson from 25th Judicial District in Tipton County. I am grateful for your work and service to the community.”
David Kustoff has served as a member of Congress since 2017 after succeeding Stephen Fincher. He was born in Memphis in 1966 and currently resides in Germantown. Kustoff graduated from the University of Memphis with a BA in 1989 and earned his JD from the same institution in 1992.
