Rep. David Kustoff, who represents Tennessee’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of tweets on July 17 and 18, 2025, highlighting recent legislative actions and meetings with state military leaders.
On July 17, Kustoff expressed support for the Senate GOP’s approval of a significant budget measure: “Great to see @SenateGOP approve President Trump’s $9 billion rescission package! In November, voters made it clear: Washington needs to rein in spending. With the package now headed back to the House, we’re getting closer to delivering on our promise to cut the waste and https://t.co/unVOJKCekP”. The following day, he commented on further legislative progress: “.@HouseGOP cut $9 billion in reckless federal spending! This was the mandate the American people gave us in November. By passing President Trump’s rescissions package, we are reining in waste and putting America back on a path of fiscal responsibility! https://t.co/WKb7rjOlZ9”.
Also on July 18, Kustoff described a meeting with military officials from his home state: “I had a great time meeting with 77th Adjutant General for the Tennessee National Guard Major General Warner Ross of Hardeman County and other leaders from the Tennessee Department of Military. Thank you all for your work and dedication to our state. https://t.co/cQAWwrc4rn”.
Kustoff has served as a U.S. Representative since replacing Stephen Fincher in 2017 and is currently serving his district based in western Tennessee. Born in Memphis in 1966, he resides in Germantown and holds both undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Memphis.
