Rep. David Kustoff, U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee’s 8th district since 2017, recently used his social media platform to highlight the legislative efforts and achievements associated with the “One Big Beautiful Bill,” focusing on tax relief and expanded economic opportunities.
On August 18, 2025, Kustoff wrote, “Before @realDonaldTrump won the presidency, @WaysandMeansGOP was already laying the groundwork for the One Big Beautiful Bill. Thank you to Mike Weatherford for having me on to talk about the wins @HouseGOP delivered for the American people.”
The following day, he expressed support for House Speaker Johnson’s endorsement of the legislation: ” @SpeakerJohnson is right — the One Big Beautiful Bill delivers meaningful tax relief for millions of hardworking American families. This historic bill paves the way for increased investments, job creation, and long-term wins for the nation.” (August 19, 2025).
Later that same day, Kustoff addressed attendees at a housing symposium in Shelby County and emphasized provisions related to Opportunity Zones: “Honored to speak at the First TN Affordable Housing Symposium in Shelby County. Thank you to Charles Ricketts for the invitation to speak. @WaysandMeansGOP worked hard to secure expanded Opportunity Zones in the One Big Beautiful Bill, ensuring more Americans have the chance to” (August 19, 2025).
Kustoff’s advocacy comes as part of his broader legislative focus as a member of Congress from Tennessee’s 8th District—a role he has held since succeeding Stephen Fincher in 2017. Born in Memphis in 1966 and currently residing in Germantown, Kustoff holds both a BA and JD from the University of Memphis.
The “One Big Beautiful Bill” has been promoted by Republican leadership as significant tax reform intended to spur investment and job growth through measures such as expanding Opportunity Zones.
