Rep. David Kustoff, who represents Tennessee’s 8th district in the U.S. Congress, recently shared updates on meetings with local public safety officials and legislative efforts regarding prison security.

On May 14, 2026, Kustoff posted about a meeting with a local fire official: “It was good meeting with Hardin County Fire Chief Melvin Martin. Thank you for your service to the people of Hardin County.”

Later that day, he highlighted an encounter with law enforcement personnel: “It was good seeing members of the @BartlettPolice Department and our law enforcement partners including Lt. Chris Armstrong, Bartlett Police Charitable Foundation President, Sgt. Sara Christian, Sgt. Michael Taylor, Sgt. Jason Jackson, Lt. Brittni Vick, Lt. Logan Kicklighter,” posted on May 14.

On May 15, Kustoff addressed ongoing federal policy discussions: “This week, I joined @SenTomCotton in sending a letter to @BrendanCarrFCC supporting the Commission’s ongoing rulemaking to allow wireless jamming of contraband cellphones in prisons. Criminals should not be able to run operations from prison cells using smuggled cellphones.”

Kustoff has served as the representative for Tennessee’s 8th district since replacing Stephen Fincher in 2017 and resides in Germantown after being born in Memphis in 1966. He holds both undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Memphis.
