Rep. David Kustoff, a U.S. Congressman representing Tennessee’s 8th district since 2017, publicly praised the release of Israeli hostages by Hamas in a series of posts on October 13, 2025.
In his first post at 11:57 a.m. UTC, Kustoff stated, “Earlier today, Hamas released from captivity innocent Israeli hostages it had been holding for more than two long years. The liberation of the hostages is a remarkable moment in the effort for a lasting peace in the Middle East. This moment would not have occurred without the”.
Later that day, at 2:58 p.m. UTC, he expressed support for President Biden’s role in the negotiations, writing, “.@POTUS is the peace president! https://t.co/c6FFBr0G8h”.
At 5:35 p.m. UTC, Kustoff posted another message thanking President Biden and referencing an appearance on CNN: “Thank you @POTUS for bringing the hostages home! Their release is a powerful reminder of what strong leadership and peace through strength can achieve. Thank you @WolfBlitzer for having me on. https://t.co/kR64cDlxsv”.
David Kustoff has represented Tennessee’s 8th district since replacing Stephen Fincher in 2017. Born in Memphis in 1966, Kustoff currently resides in Germantown and holds both undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Memphis.
The recent hostage release marks a significant development amid ongoing tensions between Israel and Hamas, with U.S. diplomatic efforts playing a key role.
