Dyersburg State Community College Athletics Department Volunteers Through CASA

Members of Dyersburg State’s athletic teams, including the men’s and women’s basketball and softball teams, assisted at the Fork & Cork Food and Wine Festival on Tuesday, September 20, at Fyrne Lake. The event supported Dyer-Lake Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children (CASA). The festival is Dyer-Lake CASA’s largest fundraising event.

DSCC’s athletic director and men’s basketball coach Chad Kline stated, “It is a great opportunity to give back to the communities that support our athletic programs. We encourage our athletes to serve as role models for others, especially youth. This organization supports the most vulnerable members of our community, and we are proud to play a part in their mission.”

The Dyer-Lake CASA organization match well-trained volunteers to be available for the Dyer and Lake County Court System to act as child advocates for abused and neglected children under the guardian of special advocate rules for Tennessee. Through written and verbal reporting to the judge, the CASA volunteers provide valuable information in making decisions that are in the best interest of the children they serve.
