Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC) recognized five students on Thursday, November 17, for completing the 40-hour Basic Electric and Motor Controls class while working in maintenance positions in local industries.
Rodney Alford, Director of Workforce Development, along with James Dial, Maintenance Manager at Hexpol Compounding, and Class Instructor Mark Brown from SRG Newbern, presented James Price (Hexpol), Randy Shea (Hexpol), Jacari McFarlane (Hexpol), Lendon Ethridge (SRG Newbern), and Kittra Headtke (SRG Newbern) with their certificates of completion for the class.
The Electrical Motor Controls class introduces electrical motors used in the industry. It provides instruction in the integrated application of basic electric controls, including electrical motor controls with starting, reversing, and stopping devices, as well as introductory theory and application of AC/DC circuits, control transformers, and the operation of DC power. The small class size and hands-on training allow this program to be customized to meet the needs of individual industries.
