Chancellor Wright | Lane College
Chancellor Wright | Lane College
The Lane College men's basketball team played host to the Clark Atlanta Panthers on Thursday night in a cross-divisional matchup of Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponents.
The first half saw a total of 23 fouls called between the two teams, 15 of which were assigned to the Dragons.
Fortunately, the visitors only converted 46% of their attempts from the line and Lane held a three point halftime advantage.
The second half saw much of the same as the foul count swelled to 7-1 in favor of the Panthers who took the lead and pushed it to 51-39.
Lane remained resolute as they put together a 13-0 run highlighted by two three-pointers from Chancellor Wright to retake the lead with just under five minutes to play.
Clark Atlanta came down and hit two free throws to break their scoring drought and recapture the lead.
It would be short lived though as Maximillion Bell answered back by burying a corner three to give the Dragons a lead that they would not relinquish.
Justin Sylver led the way for Lane, finishing with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Julian Eziukwu added 11 points while Wright had 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.
The Dragons will wrap up the first half of their season on Saturday when they host Morehouse at JF Lane Gymnasium. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
