The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) class | Dyersburg State Community College

The Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) class is the first dual enrollment class in the Healthcare Technician Program at Lake County High School offered by Dyersburg State Community College (DSCC).

Crystal Prince, Health Science Teacher and Lead nurse, is excited to allow her students to begin their college careers in healthcare. Crystal states, “I am excited to continue our partnership with DSCC. The CCMA class provides our students with more job opportunities in healthcare. In addition, this class will allow them to join the workforce after graduation while continuing their education at DSCC.”

DSCC's Healthcare Technician program provides students with credentials to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA). A CCMA is a multi-skilled professional and a valuable asset to physicians. They assist during physical examinations, maintain treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, answer patient questions, and obtain vital signs. As a CCMA, students will also be certified to perform Electrocardiograms (ECG) and Phlebotomy. Credits earned can be applied to an Associate of Applied Science degree.

For more information about filing the Healthcare Technician program, please contact Anthony Deason at adeason@dscc.edu.
