Men’s Basketball Team Named 2023 TCCAA Region VII Runners-Up | Dyersburg State Community College

The Dyersburg State Community College Men’s Basketball Team was named the 2023 TCCAA Region VII Runners-Up after the championship game on Tuesday, March 7, at Roane State Community College in Harriman, TN.

DSCC Men’s Basketball team finished with a season record of 17-11 overall and 11-7 in the TCCAA Conference. Head Coach Howard Dillard took over the team in November 2022. Coach Dillard shared, “I want to thank the President of the College, Dr. Scott Cook, for allowing me to continue my collegiate coaching career. I was truly blessed to be a part of this wonderful journey with this year’s Dyersburg State Men’s Basketball team. Coaching these young men was a true blessing. We overcame many hurdles and adversity to finish the season as Conference Runners-Up. You can’t ask for a better group of young men, and I am glad I got the opportunity to coach these talented young men.”

Ten Tennessee community college teams compete for the TCCAA / NJCAA Region VII Championship each year. Teams in the tournament included Chattanooga State, Cleveland State, Columbia State, Dyersburg State, Jackson State, Motlow State, Roane State, Southwest Tennessee, Volunteer State, and Walters State.

Wynton Brown of Carson, CA, and Greg Gordon of Coral Springs, FL, was recognized as All-TCCAA First Team.

Greg Gordon was awarded the All-TCCAA Offensive Player of the Year and All-TCCAA Player of the Year awards.
