Census Bureau: 4.5% of people in Obion County identified as multiracial in 2021

Of the 30,722 citizens living in Obion County in 2021, 95.5% said they were only one race, while 4.5% said they were two or more races, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained in June.

The most prevalent racial group among citizens in Obion County who reported being of a single race in 2021 was white, comprising 82.2% or 25,251 individuals. Following them, African American accounted for 10.8% and totaled 3,325 individuals.

The percentage of multiracial residents in Obion County is 0.7% higher than the state average, which stands at 3.8%.
