Congressman David Kustoff of Tennessee has penned an op-ed in the Washington Examiner, emphasizing the necessity for Congress to pass a single reconciliation bill that aligns with President Donald Trump's agenda. In his piece titled "One bill can make America great again," Kustoff argues for urgent legislative action to address key national issues.

"The first step toward making America great again is passing one reconciliation bill that will secure the border, restore American energy dominance, and thwart the looming threat of historic tax hikes," wrote Congressman Kustoff. He stressed that time is critical, as "the U.S.’s economic stability, national security, and global standing cannot afford delayed action."

Kustoff highlights the significance of securing the southern border and supporting immigration officers with necessary resources. He believes that robust immigration security measures included in reconciliation legislation would help control illegal immigration and enhance community safety.

The congressman also points out the importance of boosting domestic energy production to reduce reliance on foreign sources. He criticizes President Joe Biden's energy policies and advocates for an all-encompassing energy approach within reconciliation legislation to lower costs and achieve energy independence.

Additionally, Kustoff emphasizes extending provisions from the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 (TCJA), which he describes as pivotal to Trump's first administration. With many TCJA provisions set to expire at the end of 2025, he warns against potential tax increases impacting households in Tennessee and across the nation.

As a member of the House Ways and Means Committee, Kustoff remains focused on extending these tax cuts as part of Trump's "America First" agenda. He concludes by reiterating Congress's responsibility to enact legislation supporting Trump’s priorities during his second term.
